Michigan

We took our annual week-long summer trip to Michigan at the end of June. I was concerned about driving the entire thirteen hours in one day with Amanda, but Jeff had faith (and convinced me) and it ended up being a great trip. We decided to come home in one day as well. We took breaks to eat along the way (which was really better for all of us, not just Amanda) and we had some great giggles in the car.

We had an awesome time with Jeff's family. Amanda and Alex (Amanda's cousin who just turned 2) really enjoyed playing together. The week was filled with time together with the kids and time out and about. Highlights included visiting the zoo, time at the Children's Museum, day trips to various resort towns along the shore, great meals, game nights, shopping at an arts fair and awesome garage sales (I don't know why, but Michigan's garage sales put North Carolina's to shame), celebrating Alex's birthday with the family, and a cookout with many of Jeff's Michigan friends. Here are some pictures from our trip.

At the end of the week, we all celebrated Alex's birthday which was so much fun. He was thrilled about his cake and we took this video. He is the absolute cutest!
