One of the things I love the most about being a mom is the balance of knowing when to step in to help Amanda learn and when to sit back to let her figure things out on her own. Truth be told, my favorite moments usually come when she has forgotten that I am nearby and I can just watch her quietly.
Amanda is an incredibly focused little girl. She can sit for 20 minutes and read or be mesmerized by one toy. She teaches me daily about being present in the moment.
A few days ago, Amanda was playing with one of her favorite toys. Before I decided to record, she had been doing the same thing for about 15 minutes. I was fascinated watching her. She loves putting the ball down the shoot, but you'll see in the video that it's important to her to have a ball in both hands first. I think it's adorable that before she puts one ball down the shoot, she puts the other ball back down in the tray below. You can almost hear her brain processing.
Even if you don't share my somewhat strange interest in what she does with the balls, get to the end of the video and you'll see her sweet side.
I love this little girl.

Boy, she is determined. She is doing her little job, and happy to being doing it. It is fascinating! I can watch babies all day!
